For my local friends near Silicon Valley, it might interest you that I”ll be speaking briefly on just intonation at a meeting of the Leonardo Society at the SETI institute in Mountain View. Below is the official announcement from organizer Piero Scaruffi. Please RSVP to him if you feel like coming. It’s free and open to the public. – RR

I am pleased to announce that the Leonardo Art/Science Evenings (LASERs)
will now be serving the Peninsula and Silicon Valley too, thanks to
a venue kindly provided by the SETI Institute.
Here is the invitation to the first Mountain View LASER.
Feel free to forward and distribute, but please ask to RSVP to me
in order to attend. We do need a headcount.

Gravity Arts Consortium, and Lowry Burgess, former Dean and Professor,
College of Fine Arts, Carnegie Mellon University, on “I See The Earth
and it is Beautiful”
* 8:30-9:00: Daniel “Cosmo Kichman” Grupp (Artist in residence at
DeYoung Museum) on “Yielding to Irony: Understanding the Illusion of
Importance in Art and Science.”
* 9:00-9:30: Robert Rich, Electronic and Digital Composer, on
“Microtonal Music and Just Intonation”
* 9:30pm-10:00pm: Discussions, more socializing.
