We have been in a frenzy of shipping since the 15-hour Blu-ray sequel to Somnium arrived at our doorstep yesterday. It’s a good kind of busy, though!

Just ordered this and I am so looking forward to it. Thank you.

  2. Kevan Townsend says:

It’s an awesome release .. 15 hours in total ..at least you can take some to Japan with you.

Hope you and Dixie have a great trip. One of these days I hope I get the chance to attend one of you sleep concerts 🙂 cheers Kevan

Will Perpetual (the newer, latter half of the Blu-ray) be available on iTunes, similar to the full version of Somnium?

  4. admin says:

My current plans are to limit the downloadable version of “Perpetual” to CD Baby and perhaps Musiczeit. The reason is that iTunes and the other download platforms do not have infrastructure that intelligently handles albums longer than 80 minutes. CD Baby and Musiczeit give the artist more control over content, and they also offer FLAC for better quality. Normally I love having my work on iTunes, but I was not happy with how they handled the “Somnium” download, so they won’t get this one.

  5. Chris says:

Really looking forward to this! I see the disc up at CD Baby, but no download yet.

Do the physical versions come with a download code? I’d love a physical copy, but, like others have mentioned, I don’t keep a blu-ray player in my office or bedroom–the places I’d most likely enjoy the recording.

I should soon have some download cards available for purchasers of the Blu-ray, but CD Baby hasn’t quite gotten the download ready yet. There are some technical hurdles due to the long duration. Remember that the whole music system is set up for CD length and shorter. We only managed to get a full download of Somnium about two years ago, and the hurdles haven’t changed much since then. I’m doing what I can.

  7. Chris says:

The download is now available via CD Baby. Listening to the first segment now. Amazing! Thanks for this!

  8. Don says:

Got it. It’s outstanding. Thank you!

  9. Chris says:

Forgive my cluelessness, but is there a visual element to watch? I’m very interested in this, but would never just listen to it on my TV.

  10. admin says:

No visual element. You can close your eyes, that’s the whole point. The disc holds 15 hours of music, that’s why it’s on a Blu-ray. It’s for people who want to have a physical copy of the music they like.

    Hey Robert —

Just ordered the download on CDBaby as it didn’t appear that Musiczeit has it yet. Question — you still planning on releasing it on Musiczeit? I’ve gone “HD”, musically speaking, and I guess I’m a bit of a snob as I love listening to 24/96 stuff if I can get it. 🙂 Thoughts?

Thanks for an amazing release — loving what I’m hearing so far, sir!

  12. Pete K says:

BTW, HD Tracks seems set up for all things FLAC and hi-res … not sure about extremely long-form stuff like this, but they may be worth a look if you’re still searching for a good “platform” for these kinds of releases.

    Best,
    Pete
